With Advent right around the corner (only 2.5 weeks away!), I’ve been on the look-out for some Advent Calendar DIYs that can double as decor… because killing two birds with one stone is totally my jam. I’ve found three that are especially cute, and would work in pretty much any aesthetic, with just some switching out of colors and materials (although I think they’re all so lovely as is!).
The above paper bag idea from Rue Magazine is so simple, yet would definitely make a statement and would be hard to forget to actually use. (I’m often guilty of forgetting to utilize our smaller Advent calendar!) This one would be so customizable, as you could use different colored bags or fonts and colors for the numbers, and could dress it up as you like with greenery and garlands.
I love this adorable craft stick advent calendar from The Merry Thought! Again, the simplicity is striking, and this one does take up quite a bit less space if you don’t have a large wall to fill. You can write activities, scripture, or whatever you want on the other side of the stick, so it’s still interactive. The bit of greenery that this option will add to your space is juuuust right for more minimalist or smaller spaces.
This gorgeous embroidery hoop wreath from Lapinblu might be my favorite of the three. Not only do you get a fun Advent calendar out of the deal, but you also end up with a beautiful wreath! I’ve been interested in making an embroidery loop wreath anyway, so this may be the winner for this year! I do prefer Advent calendars that have scripture reading or activities rather than gifts though, so I may try to figure out a way to create a hybrid.
Do you have an Advent calendar? Any fun DIY ideas?
